Unbottling Jeannie - our new design intern!

Howdy all!

I'm Jeannie (like in the bottle. And no, not like the one in Christina Aguilera's song.) I'm one of the interns who gets to join  Vurve for the summer. I joined about a month ago, and I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in March, got my BS in Graphic Communication concentrating in Graphics for Packaging, and a minor in packaging. I also studied Computer Science for two years, but after many dreams of figuring out how to debug something in the middle of the night, and fearing a possible dream of being forever trapped in a recursive function, I knew I had to change majors--and I'm so glad I did because I can enjoy working! I worked in DPR Construction as a marketing intern and in  Cal Poly as both a print and web designer. When I'm not designing, I'm playing with my fat bunny named Jaunty (after Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope), eating plain potato chips, or sleeping more hours than necessary.

I was lucky to get four offers after graduating from Cal Poly, and I chose Vurve because of the team and the fun work atmosphere. Finding the right company culture was very important to me and its great being part of it now (Yay free lunches and Kinect games!) Within my first week at Vurve, I designed a trade show banner and had it printed to be displayed in Google I/O. Midway of the first week, I'm already drawing wireframes with a talented UI designer. At the end of the first week, I'm starting to flesh out the wire frames in Illustrator, and went out to watch a movie with the team. Just from that week, I knew I was at the right place.
